Driver Minimum Qualification and other Qualification:
(i) Candidate should have passed Matriculation Examination or its equivalent from the recognized Board of School Education/Institution situated within Himachal Pradesh. Provided that this condition shall not apply to Bonafide
(ii) Candidate must possess valid Driving Licence for plying of Heavy/Light Vehicles in hilly terrain.
(iii) As per Govt. Notification No. Per(AP)-C-C(17-2/2018 dated 19-11-2019 a candidate shall be eligible for Class-III post(s) if he/she has passed Matriculation from any School/Institution situated within Himachal Pradesh. Provided this condition shall not apply to Bonafide Himachalis.
Knowledge of customs, manners and dialects of Himachal Pradesh and suitability for appointment in the peculiar conditions prevailing in Himachal Pradesh.
Driver Age Limit:
Age between Minimum 18 years and Maximum 45 years
Age of a candidate shall be reckoned as on 01-01-2022. Five years relaxation in upper age limit is admissible only to the candidates belonging to SC category as per provisions of relevant rules/ instructions of HP Govt.
Driver Mode of Selection:
(i) Written Objective type examination (MCQ) of: 100 Marks. (Duration of Examination= 2 hours)
(ii) Driving Skill Test:-The candidate in merit list framed on the basis of Sr. No.
(iii). Above will have to qualify the DRIVING SKILL TEST which is mandatory for the selection to above post. The candidate who does not qualify the Driving skill Test will not be considered for appointment.
The syllabus for written objective type Examination will base on be of General knowledge, customs, manner, dialects of Himachal Pradesh, Motor Vehicle Act, First Aid and Mechanical Assistance etc.
Driver Application Fee:
(1). EWS: 400/- (Four Hundred Rupees)
(2). Candidate belongs to SC/OBC category: 300/- (Three Hundred Rupees)
The female candidates shall be exempted from the application fee.
The fee should be paid through IPO/Demand Draft issued in favour of Deputy Commissioner Shimla, payable at Shimla. Payment of fee in case, by any other mode is not acceptable

This office had earlier issued advertisement for filling up of one vacant of Driver (SC category) vide this office advertisement No. SML-EA (83)/Misc.-156808 dated 08-11-2021 with the process of evaluation of 15 marks in pursuance of Notification No. Per (AP-B)-B(15)-5/2014 dated 17-04-2017 Now as per Notification No. Per (AP-B)B(15)11/2018 dated 04/05/2022 issued by the Govt. of H.P. Department of Personnel has ordered to discontinue/dispense with the process of evaluation of 15 marks and to enhance the weightage of written test from 85 to 100 for class-III posts/services under the State Government with immediate effect. Hence, the advertisement notice issued by this office dated 08-11-2021 is also modified to the extent that there will be written examination of 100 marks.
Terms and conditions:
(a) Date for determining eligibility of all candidates in respect of essential qualification(s) and experience, if any, etc., shall be the closing date for submission of application form.
(b) Onus of proving that a candidate has acquired requisite driving licence/ essential qualification(s) by the stipulated date is on the candidate.
(c) In service candidates may apply for the posts with information to their Head of Departments/ Employer for issuing NOC. Candidates in service will not be considered unless he/she brings NOC from the concerned employer.
(d) The eligibility of candidate(s) will be determined on the basis of original documents produced on the day(s) of verification and the Recruiting Authority will not be responsible if the candidature of any candidate is rejected at that stage or at the time of verification by the appointing authority.
(e) Original certificates will have to be produced at the time of verification of documents. If any claim of the candidate is found to be incorrect; besides rejection they may render themselves liable to legal action.
(f) Number of posts are tentative and may increase or decrease from time to time for different categories of posts, if any, vacancy arises for the posts having common/similar R&P Rules shall be included in the present number of posts.
(g) While preparing the final result, a category wise waiting list (panel) shall be prepared. The candidates placed in the waiting list/panel shall have no right to be appointed except when a selected candidate does not join and the waiting list is still in operation.
(h) The candidate shall be eligible for appointment, if he/she has passed Matriculation, from any school/institution situated within Himachal Pradesh provided that this condition shall not apply to Bonafide Himachalis.
